Windows not working

Seriously need some help PLEASE ive got a 1.4 6n2 2000 polo and I've taken the battery and alternator off to change the water pump done the job put it all back together and wired in and now the drivers side electric window won't work at all and makes the passenger window only go down even if you push up but on passenger door the control works fine I've checked the fuses taken the battery back off and put back on even taken door panel out and checked the runners and all seems ok I'm really stumped and would be grateful of any advise any body has please

Have you checked the wires between the door and the body. They often split causing this issue
