Electric Window failure.

Post by Nally »

The cable on my electric window snapped on me in may 2015,had it replaced by an independent vw specialist for £140. In Dec 2015 exactly the same happened on the passenger door,I have emailed vw UK to see if this is a common fault, but all they have told me is to take it to the main dealer at my cost to get it checked out.Has any owners suffered this fault? I think vw are out of order not tell me if this is common or not.

You must use your windows a lot. I had a 18 year old golf mk4 and not one of the windows failed.

That's a bit odd

Did you have a genuine regulator fitted and did they replace the whole thing?

VAG cars are well know for window problems - either the plastic clip which holds the glass in lace breaks or the cables snap which require a new regulator assembly.
The dealer replaces broken plastic clips with another plastic clip but you can buy non genuine metal clips which wont break in the future
