Infotainment Issues....

Post by Richey44 »

Morning everyone!

I took possession of a Polo 1.0 SE, blue silk, 13 days ago, lovely......apart from one reoccurring issue.

The infotainment system...no two days are the same!!!! Slow, poor volume control (either from button or steering wheel) cuts out on long drives (sometimes) radio connections poor. One occasion, turning itself off and on, is if trying to constantly update tyre pressures!!!! Sat Nav installed by
Marshalls VW c**t.

On other occasions, a joy!!

Its all a bit unsatisfying!!

Any measures that may help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for your kind reply.
Will be ringing the dealership tomorrow for this.
They have said they'll do the diagnostic for free under warranty, (they have already been alerted to the issues from day one) but I doubt that any upgrades (if this is what is needed) will be free.
Only had the car two weeks ???

You've got me thinking............which is dangerous....

If the Sat Nav add on, done by the dealership, is causing these issues with the infotainment god knows where I go from there!! A customer service issue no doubt....I can already sense a series of letters/emails coming on .........

Still, I will hopefully know what the problems are after June 13th when its checked over, and hope even further they can be corrected.

I'm sure your Dutch isn't that good, but there is a guy on 'my' forum mypolo.nl with the same issues, the ghost malfunctions. His problems are not isolated to the radio unit, but nontheless it might be something similar.
He's still in a months long struggle with his dealer and the importer. So far, after some updates, they won't help him anymore. The reason is his OBD engine tuning and some VCDS tweaks.
You can read it here, maybe google translate will help you.

Hi,
Thanks for the link.
Hopefully in my case, it is a problem that can be easily cured. Im hopeful it'll be all solved after the car goes in on Monday.
But thanks for the reply and I am always saddened that some VW owners go through those horrendous problems. And customer service can always be better.......

Hi,

Well, the Polo went into VW Hessle on the 13th and found the cause of all the infotainment system issues I have been having.

Behind the main unit, there is a quad connector which has been damage/broken during the fitting of the Sat Nav. No wonder it displayed constant bad behaviour, erratic controls and actions etc etc etc.

A specialist part has now been order by Kenwood (who make the unit) and there isn't a timescale yet for this part to arrive. Hence, I am without the sat nav until this part arrives and is fitted.

Annoyed, you bet I am.....now considering what to do about the dealership I obtained the car from.
