problems programming a new key fob to my car

Post by guylocke6r »

I've tried to programme a spare key fob I've had for a while with my car (as my old key fob has snapped and will not hold the key blade anymore :( ) but none of the techniques that I have tried work!

I'm currently having to carry around both my new and old key fobs with me, using the old one for the remote and the other new one for the actual key. This is very annoying  so if anyone could suggest any ways for me to programme the key correctly that would be a great help!

I've read that getting a key programmed by a dealership is quite expensive so I'm trying to avoid that but I guess if nothing works I shal have to go down this path.

Cheers in advance for any help! :)

so you need to program the immobilizer or the central locking?

Don't worry now!! it was the central locking that needed programming but I found a tutorial for opening up the key and managed to open both keys up and switch the motherboard that was programmed with the unprogrammed one so now the new key works perfectly! it was a difficult process and I managed to stab my hand with a screwdriver  but I got there in the end :D
