Removing Trim pieces

Post by 6RPotentialBuyer »

Hi guys,

I've found a donor 6C at the local scrap yard from which I can remove some of the trim pieces for my 6R. I can get all the A/C pieces off and the trim around the RCD210 but I can't seem to figure out how to get the trim off the 2 vents above the RCD210, Or how to pull up the gear knob (There seems to be a clip on it but I can't remove it without breaking it) and the light switch on the drivers side. I've tried to find some workshop manuals but I can't find anything for the interior trim. Hopefully someone has a bit more experience than me haha
(I can add photos if it makes more sense)

Thanks

I'm going to be changing the old style knobs for the new style 6C knobs in my 6R, hence why I need to take the trim off

The light switch you turn to the side lights or dippes beam and push it in it will then pop out and just slides out .... the gear nob if you put a flat blade screw driver down the slot of the clip and twist this then opens the clip and allows the gear nob to come off then to resecure just use snips to close the clip back over ......the vents above the radio you need a kind of puller which hooks down the back and there will be a tab whil then allows it to come out ... i cant remember exactly where the tab is but at volkswagen we have a special tool for removing them ...... hope this helps
