Hi,

the sape is the same i think, but the bulb layout behind is different. to get round this the 6n owners susally fit 6n2 bulbholders.

whats wrong with the stadard ones...they're cool 8)

so theoretically all i'd need is 6N bulbholders which i'm assuming would plug directly into the original loom?

Hmmmm...... jus want something different and think I might have found 'em

they are diffrent! to get the MK 5 lights to fit on the Mk 4's you have to drill a hole out so they fit flush, so im not sure if they'll seal :? keep the standard ones they look well better!!!

I have bought some Mk4 LED lights and want to know how easy or not it is to put them on my Mk5 (this is probably the same question asked at the start of this topic but as much info as poss would be appreciated)

fitting mk4 lights on mk5

Post by saj »

i got mk5 polo and ive worked out how to fit mk4 lights onto them.jus fitted my new led lights on the rear.fitment wise they fit straight on but interms of wiring total re-wire on the new wiring loom as the configuration is totally different. ask the lads at gwent vw on 01633 214333.they r the premium fk dealers in the country and they ve sold loads of converted sets.

It ain't that much of a rewire - one side is almost the same except you switch the top two round, the other side is inverted (and then swap the two around).

basically, the mk5 bulb holders are the same left and right - mk4 has a LHS and a RHS. Hence why one is inverted. Other than that, you swap the top two round because the indicator is now in a different place.

there's a post on here explaining the conversion mk4 - mk5, so it's a reversal of that for you

:)
right side means slicing off the two studs on the plug that goes into the lightbulb holder. That allows it to be fitted the wrong way round.

After that, switch numbers 4 and 5, which should be Green/Grey and Brown. So turn the plug around, and switch the wires.

On the left side (Passenger for UK folks) you'll find these wires:

No1: Black & Red
No2: Black & White
No3: Black & Grey
No4: Black & Blue
No5: Brown

and you need to switch numbers one and two around. That's it.
