Nope, that colour scheme will never catch on, plus bad shut lines on bonnet - must do better!

I remember seeing a MB driving through Prague last December with its "you can't see me" livery on!

Edit:- actually I'll take that back, that colour scheme will be brilliant at hiding squashed flies?

Looking at the back end I would say this is more than likely a Gol (not golf) especially seeing as the 6c gti has only recently been released.

No No No, next year brings the new Polo this has been well covered in the motoring press.

Edit:- remember, from the outside, you needed to be on your toes to work out if you were looking at a 2009 Polo or a 2016 Polo - really too much styling had been carried over, which for my mind, was not a good thing. Ibiza with its more outlandish styling might have got away with it - just, Fabia didn't so got changed dramatically, which left, in my mind, the Polo with lots of proper improvements but without a new suit of clothes to differntiate from what came earlier.

This is not the first time that in my opinion, VW had missed a trick, the face lift of Passat B5 in 2001 was one and the face lift of Polo in 2005/6? was another. I'm glad to see that the latest Passat has improved bit and is heading, in looks more towards the CC. Each to thier own I suppose - but initial visual impressions do really matter as that can win or lose a sale.

Yes, RUM4MO is correct; an all new Polo is due to be launched during the second half of next year, utilising VW's MQB platform.

Although VW referred to the current Polo as a new model when it was 'tweaked' in 2014, it was essentially a facelift; some mechanical changes and mild cosmetic tweaks, but the same bodyshell. Historically, VW model lifecycles for their vehicles has been 6-8 years, so with the 6R having been launched 2008/2009 and facelifted in 2014 as the 6C, this ties in with the launch of a completely new model next year 8 years after the 6R launch. This was the same with the mk5 / mk6 Golf where VW referred to the mk6 as a new model, but it was very heavily based on the Mk5. With effective marketing by VW, calling a facelift a new model helps them to maintain customer interest and sales.

From what I've seen in the motoring press, next year's all-new Polo will have a longer wheelbase, so more interior space (especially for rear seat occupants), but the overall length not expected to increase that much - the wheels will be 'pushed' out further to the corners, so shorter front and rear overhangs. It's been suggested there'll be big improvements in interior quality over the current model too.

Just look at the rear lights and general shape, and only making a 5 door model doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

But that's the VW Gol; VW's entry-level car for the Latin-American market that you've posted a picture of.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Gol

I have read (can't remember where) that VW may drop the 3 door version for the next generation Polo, but I'd be doubtful that they'd adopt the entry level Latin American market model and rebadge it as the new Polo.

I think it's a 6C WRC or similar. (R, Clubsport, Performance...)

double exhaust and 312F 256R brake discs, i'd say a performance model indeed.
or they just had some red brake calipers and detroit alloys lying around... :p

but they did cover the cooling inlets so I'm not sure they know what they are doing.

and 6R H4 headlights

Yes, but, since late 2001, Polo has always been a Fabia with different clothes and the odd better parts fitted, in the same way that A3 is just a Golf with similar changes, and Octavia a Golf with some different and maybe older parts fitted!

Any design and manufacture weaknesses built into Fabia will be replicated in the Polo and Ibiza, unfortunately, in my eyes, this includes quite a lot of the suspension and power train, which means that these parts are made in CZ using CZ produced materials, which in my experience was the root cause of most of the issues I had with our previous Polo!
