Rcd510 swap Help!

Post by haflidij »

Hey there ive finally decided to buy a rcd510 radio. What is the right option for my car ?. It had the 210 radio in it earlier but currently i have some old sony stereo just so i could use aux.

Is this radio a good option ?. I mean like will this one work and everything ?.
Also does it come with all the cables and everything ?.

http://m.ebay.com/itm/251034636175

EDIT : Maybe this one is a better option as it comes with the AUX and USB ports. :)

Not done this swap so cannot be certain that it will just plug and play but many are advertised for the Polo so may be OK. The RCD510 is a good radio with 6 CD changer, SD card reader, USB and aux input- had one in my scirocco. I think you can find them cheaper than the one you are looking at- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stereo-Radio- ... SwneRXQsyx

This link gives the connections for the RCD510 in a MK5 Golf but connections are the same for any RCD510 so you could check what connections you have on your Polo and whether they match. http://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/ ... t;rcd_510/

Generally there is no wiring harness with these products and you may have to make up some if needed (depends what you already have for the 210).

Not done this swap so not absolutely certain it is plug and play but some RCD 510 are advertised as fitting the Polo so should work. Had one in my Scirocco so know it is a good radio. You can check the connections for the RCD 510 and if they match what you have for the 210 by following this link.

Also think you can get one cheaper than the one you posted. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stereo-Radio- ... SwneRXQsyx

Oh thanks for finding a cheaper one for me. Although i really wanted the extra usb and aux inputs with it. So i think im going to buy the other one.
Also does anyone else have any answers if its a plug and play kinda thing. Another thing i would like to buy a bluetooth modulator if thats available for the rcd510 ?.

Bluetooth modules are available for the RCD510 but you need to check the part number to match the radio. You will need a wiring harness (most modules come with this) and it will need to be coded into the car with VW compatible diagnostics software such as VCDS.

Oh thanks for this reply !. I think im just going to start without the bluetooth module and put it in later on because i can just use the AUX until i buy the module.
I think im going to buy this radio , it looks legit :

in china the polo from 2011 to 2016 will require extra cable to make RCD510 work... it is called "CAN cable". It depends on your BCM style number.

The AUX and USB sockets belongs to Golf 6.
I don't think they will fit a Polo 6R - of 6C.
