Time to upgrade my 1.9 TDI 9N?

Post by hartge »

Hi guys,

My 9N is near 150k mark now and starting to get some issues, its been great as a daily workhorse for me specially fuel wise but I have now been looking for something newer but not sure which one I should be going for?

What is a decent upgrade from the 1.9TDI? are they all smaller engines now? 100bhp is enough for me with good enough poke although I never remapped the car.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

I've just gone from a 1.9tdi Fabia to a 1.0tsi 110 SEL. It is so much more refined in every way - although not as fuel efficient at present. I went for that as it has the most torque withought going for the BlueGT/GTI. It still has less than the 1.9 diesel, but I've only really noticed this when trying to accelerate in 6th gear at motorway speeds. It's by no means bad, but because the diesels were geared so that you sat right on the torque band when cruising on the motorway it was a bit more responsive. But I just drive around that. It's definitely nippier at other speeds, and gains speed very quickly without you noticing - there's no notch in the torque curve and it's practically silent!

I do 80 miles a day - 60 miles motorway. It's done 1500 miles - but only 3 weeks old. Last calculation on full-full tank was 48.5. Hoping it'll bed in a bit more to get low 50s.

Really good that, I get around 51-ish

How long does a tank last? miles wise? I get around 450-480 out of my 1.9
