Intermittent Wiper Fault : FIXED

Post by dazz »

Hi
The intermittent wiper on my Polo didn't work. The "normal" wiper fast and slow worked fine.
It turned out to be the bonnet open/closed sensor located in the bonnet latch.
The sensor was indicating that the bonnet was open when it was actually closed.

At present the sensor is bypassed while waiting for a replacement. The intermittent wiper is working perfectly.

I think that VW has done that for years, another thing this bonnet lock micro switch does is, if you get the low oil level warning light on, and the bonnet micro switch is faulty, if you then top up the oil, the low oil level warning will remain as it will only reset if it has noticed the bonnet being opened/closed!
