Ok here it is - Haynes manual says that the rear windscreen washer jet on a Mk3 Polo 1992 should be located at the top of the windscreen. Others have it located in the base of the wiper arm. I checked my car only to find that the tubing which should go to the washer jet is there full of water but with a small bolt in it to prevent water escaping.
Inspection of the rear wiper arm indicates that there is a cut-out where the jet should be and a channel to facilitate the support of tubing to the jet, but there is no jet nor is there a hole in the bodywork for the tubing to pass from the inside of the rear hatch to the outside. I have also searched for a hole in the wiper spindle which would allow water to pass but could find none.
Is it possible that the rear hatch has been changed or the wiper motor for a different type - what has happened here ? Can someone please help ?

I had to change the rear wash/wipe motor on mine not so long ago. The Coupe has the spray nozzle located in the wiper motor, in the spindle where the wiper arm bolts on. The motor for the Coupe should have a little pipe coming out of the bottom of it, thats where the supply pipe for the water joins up to the nozzle. Its possible that your car may have a Hatch wash/wipe motor in it.
