6c polo GTI owners(1.8T), about your intercooler temps

Post by asafzabari »

Hi All,

Can you advise what is your charged air temp and after intercooler temp ?

I am upgrading my FMIC to a bigger one and wondering if 180 Celsius degrees silicone hose will be enough( want to replace the entire setup to silicone)...

Thanks,
Asaf.

180c will be fine dude, if your intercooler pipes are seeing that kinda temperature your car is probably on fire.

No seeing... just wondering what should be the normal temp range ?

highly depends on ambient temps and load and duration of load. i wouldn't worry too much up to 70 degrees celcius (no idea what that is in fahrenheit)

lets say ambient temp is 40 Celsius degrees which is 104 F, what then? as I understood we are talking about 155 Celsius degrees, no ?

I'd be very surprised if you'd managed to reach more than 80 degrees celsius of intake temperature

a quick and dirty calculation, assuming sea level pressures, 1,0 bar pressure delta (so you're running the engine on 2,0 bars, i'm too lazy to look up the specs of your turbo) and a compressor efficiency of 75%, you'd hit 78 degrees of intake pressure at 40 degrees ambient.

if your intake temps are 155 degrees celsius, i'm pretty sure you took a wrong turn to the planet venus.

remember that 1.1 bar of boost is a high amount, but a VGT efficiency can be > 0.7

in that case it would be better to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of the compressor, how the remap will be and calculate the boost, boost ratio and with the gas law of boyle, you can calculate the inlet pressure. remember to use the temperature in kelvins.

I wish I had the knowledge to remap by my self :)
I am going to remap it with e-tuners with professional tech guy...
