Hi,
Today I did my daily commute from home to work. On the way home from work I stopped off at the shop to pick up some things, when I came back out, jumped in the car and tried to start up, it started up enough for me to gas clutch then cut off. Originally I thought I'd just stalled but when I turned the key the car is cranking but not starting.
I tried cranking a few more times but it wasn't working. We tried a push start downhill, nothing. Still cranking but not starting. We ended up towing the Polo home (only a short distance, thankfully).
At home we tried cranking a few more times but with clutch down and a few times with just gas fully pressed. Nothing.
The car was running fine beforehand, hasn't had any faults, been in for repair or anything else -- no warning lights on dash and no faults showing on OBD. I'm are puzzled as to what is wrong here.
It's a Polo 6R 1.4 60 reg, 36000 miles on the clock.
Any thoughts?

Re: Cranking but not starting
Sounds like petrol pump to me. Is there a smell of petrol? Check the fuse to the pump and the more obvious one - that you haven't run out of petrol...
