Is anyone able to decode the above ?

Re: Shipping Info
Right, get on tinterweb and look for that ship! It should take you to a "marine movements" website as well as lots of other places, and find out where it is and where it is going to!
Edit:- seems like it is on its way from UK to Emden in Northern Germany where it could be collecting its next consignment to bring to UK. I was hoping that you would have been given the name of the bigger ship that was taking that car from Spain etc into our area of Europe! (big disappointment there!!)
Another Edit:- as that ship did start off from Santander on 31/01/17 I'm guessing that it has dropped off your car by now, if not on its next trip.
When I was tracking my wife's Polo, as it was a 5 door, it was built in South Africa, so that was taken to Emden by a HUGE transporter ship then decanted into one of these smaller ships for UK delivery.
Have you got any dates to make more sense of what they have told you, and are you reg'd on the VW site to receive updates on your car?
Yet Another Edit:- now if that ship has not collected or delivered your car yet, maybe track it, another thing that you can do is to look at the port it is about to go into, in this case Emden in Northern Germany and see what their harbour website is listing for arrivals and departures - all a bit of a game if you get bored or have the time!

Re: Shipping Info
Thanks for your information.
No dates apart from a notification from the VW website that build was complete on the 25th Jan. I'm not too convinced about the quality of info from VW generally as when 'chatting' to them via the website I was initially told that it would ship from Barcelona then later that it goes by train from Pamplona to Emden. I think they make a lot of it up!
There is a possibility that the car may have already been dropped off at Grimsby / Immingham or, as you say, it will be on the next trip from Santander.
Edit. 9174763 would appear to be the IMO number. No idea about the 'passage' bit.

Re: Shipping Info
Yes, vague too late updates, that ship is just outside Emden and docks this evening, really maybe just check up on where it is daily as it will be mainly going on a loop round all these car type ports.

Re: Shipping Info
Just to update. The car shipped from Santander, called at Zeebrugge then straight to Grimsby. So no going via Emden as rumours have it.
I was told all sorts of tales by VW 'chat' such as it would ship from Barcelona........ why? and that it would go from the factory in Pamplona by rail to Emden.......that was a new one on me.
Oh well, not far to go now.

Re: Shipping Info
I'd guess that it will be down to volumes on how they move these cars, logistics will do it in the most economic way, as it seems some times smaller boats local to Europe, and sometimes bigger boats that start in South Africa and work their way to Emden for local distribution.
So does that mean your car was delivered on that last "round" of deliveries, or on the next one?
Edit:- passage will just be the "trip" number, ie probably that boat's 63 trip this year, or that logistics company's 63 trip of the year?

Re: Shipping Info
Delivered on the last round - the 4th Feb - the 63 would appear to be the last numbers of the ship's IMO number - 9174763

Re: Shipping Info
Hi Rik,
Do you know on what day your car was built? We got confirmation that ours left the factory on Friday 3rd Feb but haven't had the confirmation that it has reached the departure port yet.
Cheers
Edit: Sorry, I can see you posted the date

Re: Shipping Info
Hi, Mine left the factory on the 25th Jan and seemed to be lurking on a railway wagon on its way to Santander for about a week. It all then happened quite quickly, shipping on the 31st Jan and arriving in Grimsby on the 3rd or 4th Feb.
Your dealer should be able to give you the name of the ship which will enable you to track it on AIS. I assume that yours will arrive at Tyne.

Re: Shipping Info
Thanks for the reply. That's a quick delivery from factory to the UK, hope ours does as well. I thought it would go to Emden by rail then onto Tyne but maybe not from how yours left from Spain.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the car when you get it

Re: Shipping Info
City of St Petersburg docked in Tyne from Emden this afternoon but I doubt it's on it. It's only been a week since it left the factory. City of Paris left Tyne this afternoon for Santander (due 12th) and there are three boats due into Emden by the weekend, so if the car is at or near the port it's a good change it'll be boarded next week

Don't count on it going near Emden.

Re: Shipping Info
Go onto the website for Santander and see which transporter ships has left or will leave soon then check their destinations, as said, it seems that right now it is smaller ships moving cars directly to UK or at least via Belgium and/or Holland.
