LED reversing light
I've ordered LED replacement for the pitiful reversing light. I've been finding it a real struggle to see where I'm going in the dark, when away from street lamps, using the standard bulb.
Here's what I've ordered...
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/382-p21w-w ... anbus-led/
They should be very bright (60W equivalent), and shouldn't cause any canbus errors.
The only catch is having to order a pair. I might have a spare to sell

Re: LED reversing light
Yes.....I used one of those in my Polo. Vastly better but the design of the rear-light itself limits the improvement.

Re: LED reversing light
Cheers Rik. That's one of the reasons I chose the 60W equivalent with a lens to project as much light as possible
Any tips to removing the light fitting? Does it just push out once the white plastic screw has been removed?

Re: LED reversing light
Yes it pushes out. Just ease it gently and don't drop the big white screw. The tricky bit is releasing the electrical plug. I can't remember which bit to squeeze to get it out.

Re: LED reversing light
Thanks Rik
I think you squeeze the tabs on each end of the connector block. I'll soon find out; the LEDs are in the post !!

Hey, I use BA15s (1156) 10x 5W Epistar LED + LENS 50W 4500k and it works like a charm

Re: LED reversing light
Looks same design as what I've ordered. I'm getting the 60W equivalent version. So should be brighter.
Thanks for those video links

Yes, they should be similar, I bought this bulb three years ago, I haven't found brighter thend-ash wrote:Looks same design as what I've ordered. I'm getting the 60W equivalent version. So should be brighter.
It fits to LED license plate lights.

Re: LED reversing light
Installed the LED today. You need small hands !! Had to first undo a large nylon screw to release the tail-light assembly (access through small hatch in the boot lining), then slide a small red shield back on the connector block which allows the, then accessible, connector block release tab to be squeezed. The assembly holding the bulbs is held by 4 clips.
The LED works without any error messages, is white and bright. Can't test it properly until dark tonight.
Update: although brighter, and doing a better job of illuminating objects at tail-light level, unfortunately the lighting at kerb level is no different. I guess this is down to the design of the tail-light housing which doesn't include a reflector. Oh well, it looks good; nice white bright light (in keeping with the LEDs above the number plate !!
