Disaster averted!!

Post by Apollo000 »

Hi all new here but far from new to VW, having owned many many fast VAGs middle age has hit me and a sensible daily has arrived.

2013 1.2 Match as seen here at the dealer prior to buying.

Less than 24 hours of ownership and I'm driving alone the M27 near Portsmouth when I spot kids throwing rocks off the footbridge!! The fist sized one luckily missed the car completely, sadly the one in the pic below (yes its a rock not a spud :-p) smashed through the lower grill and lodged inside.

I pick up a new grill and NS fog light surround on Wednesday, so if you're driving the M27 around Portsmouth watch out for crazy rock throwing kids!!

That's ridiculously dangerous, if a rock went through a windscreen it could cause a fatal accident.

Glad you're OK and not much damage though. I would report this to the police at the very least if I were you.

Yes, definitely report it to the police.

They rely on Intel like this to develop a tactic to catch these idiots in the act.

I would..

My grandad has a breeze block land in the cabin of his lorry whilst driving down the motorway..

Turned out kids were throwing them off the bridge on the motorway.

100% call police and get them found.

Same thing happened to my uncle, police were more concerned about whether he was insured than the kids that through a brick through his sunroof while his 3 yr old son was in the car :?

Apologies I meant to say I instantly pulled over and called the police, several patrols went to either end of the bridge but the kids had fled. Had a follow up call once home from the police, crime num,her etc but i just swapped out the grill with a replacement from VW.

Was on a trip with my brother in England (from N. Ireland) didn't know what stuff happened scared the f**k out of us, they threw what we thought was an apple and hit my dad's car that was at a show. Stains like those kids makes me want to bring back corporal punishment (I'm still in school and I think it's a good idea).

Anyway glad you're okay, but shame what happened to the car lucky it didn't hit the windscreen or paintwork.

I live in Fareham and commute on the M27 daily. Small world ay! I've heard of these stupid kids throwing things from the footbridge before. There was an incident a few years ago when they threw a juice carton from the footbridge and it splattered on a car windscreen causing a crash in Bournemouth. Thankfully not fatal.
It boggles me that people are that stupid to throw things like that off the bridge. Rest assured the police won't do a thing and these kids won't ever be found or punished. Just another great example of the judicial system in the UK. Rant over, it really annoys me!
