Weird noise today from the boot...

Post by kapur »

Right, was about 3 today, went for a drive. Had to post some stuff and what not...

Got into the car as usual. Put the key into the keyhole, turned it so it was ready for the electronics to come on.....

was waitin for everyone to get into the car.. and then i started hearing weird clunkin noises from the lockin mechanism of the boot. Heard it about 3 times, was weird. At first i thought the rear wipe was on, looked back, but it was the lockin mechanism for the boot..

Ne way, i locked all the doors/boot using the c/locking mechanism on the drivers door, then i opened them again..

It was weird, cuz it closed like normal, but when i opened it, the noise from the boot lasted longer than it usually does. Was atleast 5 seconds long.

I dont know whats wrong, but everything feels right.

If anyone's got any idea, i'll be keen to know.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if the MKV is vacuum operated like the MKIV but if it's not and elctrical solenoids do the work then i've seen them do double bounces on other cars I've owned normally when something is getting sticky in the lock mechanism - worth whipping the boot cover off and just checking everything is free moving and applying a little lubrication on the moving parts

It is vacuum. I wouldn't worry *yet*. Come back to us if it stops working!
