Warning Lights and limp Mode

Post by maskell01 »

Hi All,
Im new here so first of all hi!
I have had a bit of a problem with my Polo 6R 1.2 3Cyl, parked her on a hill, when i started her back up, the traction control light came on, with a pinging. shortly after engine management light came on.

Shortly after that i realised she had no power, gussing this is limp mode???

Got it on a friends snap on reader, it said the cam position sensor was playing up, so replaced this.
deleted the codes and restarted. both lights came back on within 5 minutes.

Can anyone shed some light on the matter?
your knowlegde would be greatly recieved.

Did you park it so that it ended up being held by the engine and not completely by the handbrake, if so, you might now have an engine timing problem. Scan tools will not report that until it is well out I think.

Normally as a rule I pull the hand break right up then pop her in gear!

I parked it pointing up the hill!

I've got the same car and mine has done exactly the same, did u manage to fix urs? I'm going to try replacing the camshaft sensor later but it doesn't look hopeful with ur post. All I did was drive off the drive and turn he car round. It was running fine on my way home from work. Don't understand it.

it's good to get a diagnostic tool (i.e. OBD11, VCDS) or go to a workshop with such a tool. the engine often will tell you what's wrong.

As above, also, it would be good if OPs came back with the final fix and what was the root cause!!!

I have exactly the same problem!! So it would have been fantastic if u could tell us how you fixed the problem.. I have been to several garages, but none of them have been able to find the problem. I have switched to a new camshaft sensor but without any luck.. :(

Hi new to this forum but having the same issue with my partners car . Already replaced coil packs injectors ran through every single connection on the engine . The only thing that has made a difference but I will say not cured is putting carbon cleaner through in take . If any one has resolved this issue I would love to know before I burn it :D
