In-Car PC

Post by ^Adam^ »

Guys, looking into building an in-car PC, what components will I need not inc the screen?

So far I have,

All in one mini case, motherboard, power supply and 800mhz processor £140

Maxtor Diamond Max Plus8 40GB hard drive £32

Kingston 256 RAM 133mhz dimm £38

Pioneer 16xdvd slot £23

this is the blurb from the website about the case (seems like I dont need graphics card, although I already have one and a sound card)

what else would I need?

Although you said no Including the screen, If you want to slash out a bit you could get a touch screen, im not sure were i seen them but that would be cool.
Apart from that all i can see you needing is a Mouse and keyboard. :?

i have found a 7" widescreen touchscreen, its £210 inc vat,

bit expensive really, trying to keep this as cheap as possible.

I can get hold of a 6.5" screen for £80, only have video in tho, so will have to get something compatible.

i don't have one lined up but a while ago someone on talkaudio was selling the 6.5" sceens for £80, and they seem to be traded around quite regullary on there.

they are just the raw screen, no mounting, you need to solder the connectors on if someone hasnt already.

thats why they are so cheap, but they are top screens, i used to have one when I had my PS2 in my clio

Ok, thanks.
I already have a screen mounted on the back of the passenger headrest. But my plan is to take that one out, get 2 the same for both headrests, A flip down roof mounted one in the front, and the one i have. Either in the boot or sell. Still undecided. The next step is to get it coming through the cd player though. Which is a bit costly.
