Linking footwell lights to headlight switch

Post by JammyLuke »

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to link the footwell lights, that come on when the doors are open, to the headlight switch. So when I turn the headlights on, the footwell lights come on, is this possible?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, should be possible. Just connect the positive wire of the footwell lights to the headlight switch wire for the headlight setting.

Of course a fuse should be in the setup, and a relay might be advisable. But possible, for sure.

It may not close the circuit to ground through pin T73a/4, and if this were possible, the dome lights will also turn on. :|

I think it would be better to use new additional lights (ambient lights-LED) managed by a relay (activated with the signal from light switch or BCM).

I think I remember (not sure) that some user/guys in the German forum (polo6Rfreunde) managed to do this with an external module for original footwell lights. (white/red) http://www.passatplus.de/umbauteile/leu ... uchten.htm

I'm curious, why do you want to link the footwell lights to the headlamps. It might be obvious but I'm puzzled ( put it down to old age!).

Hi Ricmondo, I think what he is trying to achieve is something like in this video:

If you had feet like mine the last thing you would want to do is light them up but if it makes people happy that's good.

I'm still bemused but that's not unusual!
