BlueGT Polo 140bhp or 147bhp?

Post by jhutchy53 »

Hello, I am new here and new to VW BlueGt Polo.
Can somebody help me? I am trying to confirm if my car is 140bhp or 147bhp.
My car is a October 2014 model. I was told by the salesman it was 147bhp but reading forums I am not sure.
On my registration certificate V5C it says Type 6R Net power 110KW which = 147.5bhp but forums say type 6c is the 147 bhp model and 6R is the 140bhp model. Confused.! Did they do 147bhp (110 kw) still under 6R in late 2014? Thanks.

you're in one of these transition periods.
if your tail lights have a round eye, you have a 6R and 140hp
if your tail lights have a rectangular eye, you have a 6C and 150hp

Also, Your car will be a 6c and 150 bhp if;
  • you have a row of nine switches / blanks above the infotainment unit, or 6 switches / blanks and two card slots (the 6r has seven switches / blanks)
  • your infotainment unit is the same style as the one in in the second picture in the thread at the link below;

Tail lights have a rectangular eye and the infotainment unit is the same as that picture so it looks like its an early 6c 150bhp (feels like it!) Mystery solved thanks chaps.

The V5C says that both the 6R and 6C facelift are a 6R as the chassis was not re-type approved for the facelift. My 66 plate 6C is a 6R on the V5C. It sounds like you have a new version - particularly if it has the new infotainment system.

If you download an app on your phone called My Car Check you can put your number plate in and it will tell you the BHP of your car

Did a free "my car check" and it is a 147.9 BHP model. Thanks for all the replies.

You should contact VW and ask for the extra 0.1 BHP, amazing how low these car manufacturers will sink.

Joking over, enjoy your new car, I find the BGT to be a very good compromise and an excellent car to own.
