Year 2 Service on Dealer Prepaid Plan

Post by RUM4MO »

So, wife's August 2015 Polo 1.2TSI SEL has just had its first major service with inspection, a service plan was bought with the car which turned out to be a Western VW Edinburgh dealer only service plan, no problem there!
At first year service I asked about getting a zero valued bill as a form of record of work done and parts used, I did this because nothing was offered when the car was collected after the service, I was advised that this is how things are now, but if I waited a month, I could formally request that paperwork from accounts, well the time passed and I did nothing!
At second year service, I was given a bill, with nothing for me to pay but it showed that lots of discount had been given - that discount would be given to the person that pays that bill, ie Western VW at a higher level, ie who I bought the service plan from, so what is the point in that as it shows that the service in total came to £179 - and my service plan allowed for £220, just a bit of stupid nonsense it seemed to me.
But (never start a sentence with but), it listed all the parts used including the pollen filter, the part number did not tie in with what I had expected, in as much as what was fitted to that car at factory is a carbon impregnated filter, and they replaced it with the cheaper plain filter - all auto AC cars are meant to get the carbon coated filter - cheap skates! I did ask about this prior to this service as if they were going to charge me for the pollen filter as an extra, I would have said "leave it" and I'd replace it with the newer Frecious (sp) type of filters that are now available - from ECP but with time maybe fitted as standard at factory.

So, any Embra/Edinburgh new Polo owners out there with auto AC, I have now warned you, in my case we needed to use the car immediately so no time to argue about that issue, I physically checked the new filter today and what they listed on the bill is what has been fitted, just a small point maybe, but why not use the correct, for that car, service parts?

There are now allergen filters for most VW cars for allergy sufferers. Quote - traps a deactivates allergens, captures pollen, diesel soot, and fine dust particles and binds unpleasant smells (from outside the car presumably :) ).

Yes, that is the "Frecious(sp?)" ones that I was referring to, bought one already and fitted it into my S4, at that time, as ECP had a special discount deal on, I asked that VW dealer if they include replacing the pollen filter in their " year 2 prepaid service plan" - and they said "yes" - if they had said "no", I would have ordered a "Frecious(sp?)" one for that car from ECP at a very good price - that option is currently not available, maybe it will be soon, just need to keep checking ECP website. Certainly, with that new but wrong filter fitted, the smell of freshly cut grass is coming through "well", which was not the case when the old carbon coated one was fitted!!
