Alarm not working on Polo 6r 2010?

For 1 year, I had a black box for my insurance and it has now been deactivated but not removed. I've come to realise that ever since having that box, the alarm hasn't gone off.

I've tried opening the driver's and passenger side doors with the window open whilst the car was locked, pressing all the buttons such as the radio, hazards etc and even rocking the car back and forth, but still no luck.

Could the problem be with the old insurers black box some how interfering with the factory alarm? I would get it removed, however, they charge a very "small" amount of £90 for that.

If anyone else has experienced this problem and has a solution then I would be grateful to hear it!

Model is: Volkswagen Polo SE 1.2 60ps 2010.

I've got a 2010 Polo Moda 1.2 70ps and I've got the exact same problem.

Although until reading this I had just assumed the car didn't have an alarm, despite their being a red flashing light on the drivers door.

I still have an active blackbox and I didn't test the alarm before I had it fitted so it's all I've known.

SE's didnt have alarms unless it was a paid for option. Alarm was only standard on the SEL model and higher.

Are you sure it has an alarm?
