Converted mk2 coupe on ebay

Post by GroovyCarrot »

Someone's selling a mk2 coupe on ebay that they believe to be a standard 1300, but it looks like it's had a complete engine bay rebuild, a DOHC merc engine of some sort put in, huge brake servo etc.. it's only going for £50 atm, surely someone will snap it up?

Take a look anyway, it's a fairly impressive sight...

Ach, I think you're right.. sadly :) It just looked to me like the engine bay had been completely rebuilt to house that engine, but looking at it the wings are too wide, the windscreen wipers are pointing the wrong way, there are too many slats in the bonnet amongst other things. Oh well :(

thats no polo.......

too flat fronted even for a mk2, fans in the wrong place, engine is longitudinally mounted (try making that work in any way in a mk2 without a major chassis re-jig and a custom mounted gearbox, esp as any DOHC merc is probably RWD) and check the top left corner..... hello brake servo!

and hello professional (dodgy?) dealer who's switched to ebay!

Hmmm Tahrey - you try too hard

Now on the page at the bottom.....

Q: is this the standard engine? answered on: 26-Aug-04

A: Sorry. I put a photo of a mercedes 2.8 twin cam engine on by mistake. the Polo is a 1.3.

DOH!!! - so why not change the pic by editing the description as well!!!!
