New seat installation (wiring help needed)

Post by Ashneale »

Hi, I have recently installed Audi a1 s-line seats into my polo 6r. Installation was easy. The trouble I am having now is the airbag wiring has different connectors.

The wiring coming from the new seats for the airbag has 3 wires. A black, a blue and a brown.

The wiring coming from the car itself has a green, a white and a brown wire going into the yellow plug connector.

So my question is has anyone done this before? I have searched high and low and cannot find the answer of how I can figure out which wire goes to which and also I cannot find anywhere the original polo seat connectors online so when correct wiring is figured out the new seats can have an original matching male/female connector wired back on so I don't have to mess with the plug already connected to the car. I am based in Bromley, south east London and will be happy to pay someone to sort his for me! Safety comes first so would really like this sorted so I can drive my car again!

Thanks in advance for any help

Ashley

That’s actually from an official TSB on the mk5 golf due to high resistance on the airbag connectors under the seat. Cut the connectors off and replace with heat shrink butt crimps

You are an absolute life saver! What about the passenger side? I have a brown, blue and a white wire coming from the car? Also do you know what amp butt crimps I will need? With a quick google search there seems to be different amp butt crimps.

The heat shrink butt crimps are the ones recommended by VW in wiring repairs.
With good tools ...the work will be Ok for life.

I would assume brown blue and white from the car and brown blue and black from the seat would be

Brown > Brown

Blue > Blue

White > black

But I wouldn't like to "assume" anything with airbag wiring for obvious reasons 😂

Had abit of change of plan a good mechanic friend of mine has said if I can find the yellow connector from the original seats he will re use those. Does anyone know where I can find the part number for this? I can only find the one that is on the car side of the wiring.

Cheers

I would crimp. The connectors are very resistance sensitive
