Hi,
What is the cheapest way to make a spare genuine Key fob.
Seen an ad on ebay who charge £129 to supply/cut and program.
Thanks

Re: Spare key fob
129 pound sounds like a good deal, including programming to the immobiliser and central locking

Re: Spare key fob
You have to visit the shop so only handy if you're local to them.
I bought a polo for my daughter recently which only had one key - knocked £200 off the asking price straight away. Whilst you can get keys programmed and coded the important thing to remember is that all the keys that you want to be able to open and drive the car with have to be present.
I spoke to a local locksmith who said that he can cut and program keys with fobs supplied by him. However, it is fraught with problems and issues so he couldn't offer any sort of guarantees.
I bit the bullet and went to VW. £130 for the remote fob (think list is £150 so dont be afraid to ask for a discount) and key cut using your VIN. £60 to program this and also the other key we had. This ensures that only those two keys can drive the car away and any other keys out there will simply only open the door and wont start the car. This is why the alarm goes off if you don't start your car immediately after opening the door using the key rather than the fob.
