1.2 Petrol Engine

Post by poloag »

Hi,

Is this engine chain or belt driven, as I read that it was changed to belt around 2014?
My engine no starts with CGPB, its a 63 car 2014 model.

Thanks

I'd guess a chain if it is a 6R, ie pre face lift model, face lift is 6C and has a larger MMI screen - though I'd need to check up on that.

Put it this way, has that engine got the turbo on the front side of the engine, if so, it has a chain, conversely, if it has the turbo on the rear side of the engine, it has a belt - check that out and report back!

Edit:- I think that I managed to get this wrong some time ago, so maybe I'm wrong again, though do get back with which side/end of the engine the turbo is located.

I just checked on eurocarparts website with my reg and they show chain as replacement part.
Turbo? My car is a petrol , I don’t think it has a turbo.

Aha, I had not considered that you were talking about a 1.2 3 cylinder engined car, so yes, chain!
