ABS plastic ring

Post by 1eighteen »

Does anyone know if the beige plastic ABS sensor ring that fits at the back of the front bearings on the CV joint can be bought separately ??

I have just replaced the front bearings and the kit came without any and I have managed to destroy one of them

VW only sell them as part of the hub kit at £££££££ ridiculous sums of money.

Cheers

You mean the '6Q0407623E'?
Should be for sale separately. If not by vw then on eBay etc

Ha, I made sure that I including buying new ones "just in case" when I replaced the front springs in my wife's 2002 Polo years ago, only used one so had quite a few spare parts left that I would use on my daughter's late 2009 Ibiza when it needed new front springs - actually I probably bought all the same parts again for that 2009 Ibiza, so I have a few parts left over for when my wife's August 2015 Polo needs new front springs - which it will do in a few years time!

Edit:- these dust shields start off life almost white by the way!

Thanks guys.

So they are just dust covers ? I thought they were something to do with the ABS ? But I have to admit, I was just guessing !!!

I have another slight problem now too  I also managed to destroy both speed sensors that are screwed into the top of the knuckle (I am a clutz ! :D ). I am guessing this is why I now have the following:

No Speedo
PAS goes tight at very low speed with a swift change of direction.
Steering warning light
EPC warning light
ABS Warning light
Tyre warning light

I have ordered two replacements and wont drive the car now until they are fitted.

Cheers for the help. I not so much of a noob on here, more that I hadn't been on here for a few years and forgot my login so made a new account. But anyway...Hello.....again !!!

yes the magnetic field for the ABS sensors is (or should be) located on the wheel hubs themselves. dysfunctional ABS sensors could be indicative of this problem.
