" ........ do you think that means it's a fixed service term?".
That's my interpretation, going by what's printed in that table. However, there may be others who'll disagree with that. The QG1 being printed in that matrix of PR nos. on the big stick-on label is only how it started off as; someone else may in the meantime have changed it in the Infotainment menu. It's that that'll determine whether you get a reminder coming up on the dash every year or instead every two years, or whatever it is.
As for a list of things to be done at Inspection time, yes I'm pretty sure I've seen a list somewhere, but I can't remember where exactly. Almost certainly in one of the booklets or in the owner's manual that came as the combined driver's information pack. Are you sure the previous owner handed over the information pack in its entirety? Another thing is that you may wish to clear down the Oil Service Reminder and the Inspection reminder yourself from them being displayed on the dash screen, once each has been done, and if you look in the owner's manual carefully you'll find descriptions of how to do that yourself.
One thing I read and which you might want to make a mental note of is that, once you change (by way of configuring in the Infotainment menu) the oil service scheduling from longterm to short-term, you can't then change it back. But I think that a good many people who'd be doing their own servicing would opt for the short-term (annual) one anyway. Setting it one way or another doesn't compel you to do the servicing religiously when reminded. Within reason, you can change the oil whenever you like, and provided you use precisely the correct or certified compatible replacement and you perform the task with due diligence, all should be well. Using VW's longterm service schedule, though, should only involve using oil that's classed as longlife.

My comments about the EVAP plastic ribbed pipe was just in case that your car still has the original pipe, and you had noticed an unusual beeping noise, if it does not bother you just leave it as it is. My reason for demanding that it was replaced/updated on my wife's car was that that noise was obvious from the second day we owned that car, I knew it was unnecessary, discovered someone in Scandi land had been successful getting Skoda to own up to that issue and sorted it out, so I was just challenging my VW dealers authority or technical ability, if I had failed I would have got a new pipe ordered in and replaced it myself - then started sending VW UK some hate mail. That always worked for me when I had Fords!

Re: New polo owner looking for some help.
Thanks guys I appreciate the time you've taken to reply and you've definitely cleared up a few things.
I think I do have all the documents, it was pivot the one owner before me so everything still seems to be new in the manual pack I received with it.
I will keep an eye out for any noise and I'll know what to check if it comes up, thanks Rum4mo.
My wife has the car during the week so looking forward to having a drive in it alone on the weekend

To answer your question about inspection and servicing lists, Jpich85, the Nov 2016 edition of the Service Schedule booklet that I possess includes a few pages detailing what's involved when the VW workshop performs those tasks. And for every signed-off regular service there's a short list of tickable things that are done, plus a list of any additional work that possibly needed doing. Given that Inspection involves principally visual checks, I'd say that almost any halfwit could perform those, provided they're prepared to get under the car for some of them. And, for a TSI, any DIY mechanic with prior experience and suitable tools should be able to do - or would want to do - just about everything on the Servicing list, apart from maybe changing the cambelt when that time comes around. Repairs to the vehicle would, of course, be quite a different consideration for the DIYer.
It's likely that the editions of the various booklets you've inherited as part of the owner's pack are earlier ones, and so possibly might not have these listings in the Service Schedule booklet. Have a look through what you've got.

Thanks veteran I'll take another look through them, I think I'd be capable of an oil change and filter, it'll be good to see what needs checking tho so I can stay on top of it all, I know these engines are quite new but would you say it's a decent engine? I know vw use to have a really good reputation but lately with that I've been reading online all these new engines from various manufacturers seem to have one problem or another.
