Well.. fair enough really, it's exactly what they'd be doing anyway, without wasting police time in doing it. Personally I'm all for this type of check up, it helps weed out the extremely unroadworthy and it's done at the officer's discretion with no pre-determined penalties.. that kind of flexibility I'm all for (unlike automated cameras issuing fixed penalties without taking any other factors into account

GC yeah, funny thing on the tv news thing that's on the local trains nowadays on the home-run.... story about how "motoring organisations" (which ones??) are up in arms over the govt's new variable fine scheme for speeding offences. An idiot local newscasters comment about the fine lawmakers of our nation's "recent" (like, 3 years?) ad campaigns to "convince" us that being even 3 or 4mph over the limit was likely to end in catastrophe (his words!) really got my goat...
