2016 Gti 1.8tsi newbie.

Post by joe.bethell »

Hi

Just got a cracking 3dr 1.8tsi gti and I'm considering a few mods/improvements and thought this would be a good place to start.

What would you recommend as an easy first few upgrades?
I will eventually be looking at coilovers and a wheel change considering a diameter drop possibly also!

Any hints tips or suggestions welcome as information seems quite difficult to come across

Cheers Joe

manual or dsg?

imho i'd be very wary of doing any power mods without careful consideration of the dsg box.

there's a few gti groups on facebook if you have that, usually more helpful to the gti

ahh thats a good start :D

i've got a racing line induction kit, GFB dv+ diverter valve, forge turbo muffler delete, and a wagner tuning intercooler.

ive just fitted a racing line turbo elbow today.

list of modes left to do are

turbo back exhaust (sports cat downpipe)
sachs uprated clutch and a single mass flywheel
quaife LSD
then it's IS38 turbo time

Dink how much hp can the is12 stand ? Also its effecient to take an is20 and put 300hp there it will be as fast as with the is38 right? If its tuned properly also with the eibach how much lowering front and back?

Think you can push the is12 to about 260bhp.

You can get a good 30bhp extra from the is38. You do get a little bit extra lag but it's not massive.

The drop can be seen here
