Seat replacement or recovering

Post by MrW »

Hoping someone can offer advice on the best way to sort out a nasty cigarette burn on the front passenger seat of my girlfriend's Polo GTi.

It's the size of a 2p, right in the middle of the seat and has gone down into the foam - they've done a really good job!

I guess the questions are:

* how often do Polo GTi interiors come up for grabs (through breakers etc)?
* how much would a replacement seat cost?
* does anyone know of any other methods for covering up unsightly big burn holes in the middle of seats?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm on several breakers lists throughout the country for a GTi interior and not one has turned up recently. Essentially you are waiting for someone to completely write off a GTi and they're not very common cars.

As a tempory solution you could get some seat covers, there are some tasteful ones about now, and there only about £30 a set.

Why not just visit the VW dealership and buy the foam and trim for about £70?
