9n Sony Headunit Help

Post by GaryUK »

I was wondering if you anyone could help,

I've recently installed a Sony CD player in the dash. At first when I turned off the ignition and took the key out it reset the unit and lost the radio stations etc. so I rewired it up so that it always had power, now you have to manually switch off the headunit or take off the front face when you take the key out which is a slight inconvenience. Is there a way to set it up so that when you take out the key it turns off the headunit but keeps the radio stations?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

DId you ever try the adapter you can get from halfords? Think this is a similar problem i had in my gf's lupo she has minidisc player in hers and everytime she took the key out you lost the time and the stations. Used the adapter and there hasn't been a problem since :)

Yeah I bought it from Halfords and they told me to use this adaptor but it's got the wrong connection for my headunit!

They must have given me the wrong one!

Dude you didnt need to buy the adapter!

when you look at the wires comein out on the sony unit there is to main wires one yellow and one red! (ignition and power) they both have joiners in them and the yellow has a two way connecter in the middle!

split the two the two wires and link the yellow to red then the red to yellow! this gives the ignition wire a pos feed which saves your memory!

Do car fits at weekends you see Bros colchesters ripspeed specalist!! only german cars needs these wires changed!
