Seat issue for tall son!

Post by Trayza »

 hi
My son has bought a 2012 1.6 TDI but it’s a bit uncomfortable as he is 6.2 He has the steering wheel at its highest and the seat at its lowest but it’s still a bit uncomfortable. Could he replace his seat with a lower one or any tips that he could do. It’s s great car and he got a good deal but that’s the only issue. Thanks in advance

I'd guess that his best bet is to find a racing seat as it will have a lot less and thinner layer of padding and will come will a range of adaptors to suit that car, that is just a hunch not facts borne of personal experience.

Buy a copy of the motor sport newspaper and see who is advertising in the back section?

Even Rally Design - https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/ even although most parts seem to still be for mark 2 Escorts!!

Edit:- oh well only seat mountings on that one, so it is bucket seats that you are looking for.

Another Edit:- Sparco and Recaro are the big names still, though their prices reflect that, Demon Tweeks is another outlet for that kind of thing.

I’m 6’ 4” tall and I find I fit very comfortably in my Polo. I have standard VW sport seats so perhaps they offer more space?
