Has anyone with a 6c GTI or standard 6C (not 6r) managed to get Coming home and leaving home lights on their car without having factory auto light and rain sensor? Be it retro fit DIY job or Chinese auto light module?
I'm looking to get this feature and wondered if it's possible and how easy it'd be!
These do a small switch version but does not have the coming home/ lights on feature .
That is also a 6R switch, not a 6C. I'm not sure if it will work on a 6C.
I'm not sure what the big/small plug has to do with anything though. I have retrofitted Auto/CH/LH lights in my 6R, and the switch has a small plug. The CH/LH logic is handled by the BCM.
I have a 6c and the connection behind my switch is a small plug. Advanced Incar do 2 versions one with a big plug where you plug in a module for the c/h lights and one with a small plug which is just for the light sensor lights.
Aren't the actual switches the same on both 6r and 6c, I thought the only difference was the plug connector?
At least the switches look cosmetically different between 6R and 6C.
There are both big and small plug switches for the 6R. My car had a big fat switch without Auto lights and with the big plug from factory. I retrofitted Auto lights using a harness provided by the user ciclo on this forum, and a small OEM light switch with Auto mode and small plug.
I don't know why the factory switch had to be so big since it didn't have Auto/CH/LH light functionality. But I think that the big switch has a built fog light relays that the small switch doesn't have, because the wiring harness I installed included 2 relay holders, and since I don't have fog lights I only installed one of the relays.
Edit: now that I think about it, my Auto switch with small plug is actually out of a crashed Golf mk6 but it looks the same as a 6R swifch. I don't know if 6R with Auto lights from factory uses the same part but I would think so.

thats what has me stumped
i have no idea what would need to be changed in vcds to enable it
Me too, I've looked into several electrical retro fits but all seem to need this vcds update. C/H L/H feature, footwell lights, rear camera ....I'm guessing I'd need the items fitted and also programming into the car so the car knows that they are installed? So it's finding somewhere to get them fitted with vcds updating too.

To me it seems like that light switch kit is still a third-party solution because it uses its own light sensor, not the one installed in the car like an OEM installation would. So I would imagine the logic lies in the light switch itself and it's not using the logic in the BCM, that's why I think it sounds strange that it would need VCDS coding.
For the 6R, there are kits available with an Auto light switch and a separate third-party light sensor, and these kits do not require coding. I'd imagine that would also be true for third-party kits for the 6C.
