Fitting Polo 9n Xenons

I know a few of you have them fitted and i know some have helped as well, and i'm sorry but i can't remember who and i can't find the original posts.

Any how can i have some help on fitting them. Any major points to know about them as i don't have a clue about the components and having to modify anything??

Also where's the best place to mount the ballasts?

Fitted in the standard headlights ?

I've done that, but it's one hell of a job.

The biggest problem is the length of the projector. It doesn't fit the standard headlight. So you have to remove a large piece of plastic on the rear of the headlight. But then you have to tackle the problem "How to seale the headlight properly to avoid water coming into the light".

And that's a problem I stil have. When I use a wash-box with hot water the headlights immediately get full of damp. I sealed the rear with a rubber flap.

you can still install a xenon kit into your existing headlights, but the reflectors are not designed to work with high intensity light sources like a HID bulb, which leads to the xenon low beam illuminating more than the high beam does and distracts other drivers. therefore it is highly recommended that you use a projector, preferrably from a BMW 3 series and modify your headlight housing accordingly. it's a really major job though, you need to heat and open up the housing, cut a hole in the low beam reflector and "somehow" fit the projector, and still there are things to look out for such as focal distance of the projector, length of the xenon bulb, and as Joy mentioned, insulation.
however, if you choose to use your existing headlight housing, it's a plug and play installation, any major brand kit should have manuals and diagrams on how to do it.

For now it's into the originals, just need to know where i should mount the ballasts now.

However i'm getting at some point if big boys toys ever get them in, the FK angel eye headlights that already have projectors

Cheers for that tim!! Bit warey of ppl selling them though as bigboystoys had them advertised since march but have never received a set. However studying the FK website i found that they aren't supposed to be out till october so i don't really want to part with my cash unless they've got them, besides the xenon's just cost me enough and i still have to get my bodywork repaird and springs fitted....the list may as well go on and on!

no probs, october? that sucks they've been in their adds in PVW for months. just wondered what springs u goin 4?? i saw apex kit on german ebay, but not sure about buying from germany. Place near me has Pi -30mm springs for Â£90. decisions decisions.....

Good choice. I regret that I bought the H&R springs. They are to stiff for the Polo. So I'm gonna change that back to Eibach springs, maybe with Bilstein shocks, but I don't know if they make a big difference in compare to the standard Sachs-VW sport-shocks. Also want to fit some H&R stabi's.

Got them 2nd hand from Nelson_Wilbury

I beleive you can get them from VAG parts (think they're the same) and also if you just pick up a copy of Performance VW you'll find plenty of places that sell them in there too.

Right... didn't have a clue what it said, except for the bit right at the bottom which said DON'T DO THIS AT HOME.

Yup, that's the problem when an Englishman want's to read something Dutch

It's a little guide for do-it-your-self-headlight-mutulating.

And you are correct for that sentence don't do this at home

It's just to much work and frustrating to get it working all together.

But, the result is very nice.
