If it's a N/A car then don't bother tbh

You will gain more by just giving it a good service.

I'd suggest that you enjoy it for what it is, ie a sensible entry point to owning a modern Polo, and build up your insurance credibility and savings to "strike" a bit higher up the model range next time.

Also make sure that you know when the cambelt is due to be replaced, every 5 years or 60K miles at maximum, this is a tricky bit of advice that I'm trying to give to my older daughter who has owned a late 2009 SEAT Ibiza 1.4 16V 86PS from new, one cambelt changed has already been done, next one due - but maybe a car change in her mind, so I hope she makes the correct next move, very soon!

Edit:- by the way, in my youth, I did fit a K&N filter to one of my Fords and yes the feeling was that throttle response improved etc - and then I sold it, kept the K&N charger sticker on my tool storage system, but even that has now gone and my mate has it as I scattered more cash on a much bigger tool storage unit to house my now bigger stock of garage tools!

So we are not just trying to say "don't be stupid" .

Edit:- corrected the duff info on cambelt replacing - 5 miles was not quite right!
