Je Design Grille or FK Grille?

Post by SiDaBa »

For those who aren't familiar with the grille's the blue one is the JE grille and the black slatted one is the FK grille.

Well i don't know which to have. Either way it's going to need "work" done. The JE grille quite clearly needs painting and if i have the FK grille the gap needs filling in. What one do you guys (+ gals) reckon?

You missed one!! What about Kamei? Do they do a grille for the 9n? I'm after a Kamei grille for my 6n2 but funds don't allow me to go buy one just yet :?

However if you've only got a choice of those two, I'd have the JE Design one, and simply get it painted up to match. 8)

Personally I don't like the slats that are in it - they remind me too much of the original grille... you might as well just have a black VW badge and be done with it lol - looks almost the same...

Thats why we modify our cars though isn't it! If everybody liked the same thing we'd all be driving around in Vauxhall Astras and Ford Focuses!! For exmaple, I've got black front and back veedub badges sitting at home waiting to go on my GTi, and a pair of black side repeaters soon to be ordered. Just cos I like them and want them on my car doesn't mean the next guy wants them on his car eh?

i like the fk one, maybe because its the one i have, if u fill the arch in the picture it would look a whole lot beta. otherwise the reiger one is similar to the je one, but u have to have the arch filled in wiv that too, i think it looks beta when the arch is filled in the bonnet, rather then a little bit coming out the grill, i.e the je grill

I have a full De-badge grille if you want it! Its the FK one never fitted it, got the fill in part for the bonnet to, profesionaly painted in reflex silver, all you gotta do is fit it and go. Make me a offer big chap if you want it or know anyone who does!

Oh I'd deffo go for the FK grille keeps it OEM.

Well currently i have the FK one on as that's the last grille i got and i fitted it and couldn't be bothered to put the old one back on. The JE one is still sitting in the boot waiting for me to get a quote to paint it.

Am i wrong in saying the only way to fit the metal insert is to have it permanently attached to the bonnet (welded in) or is there other ways around it?

I wouldnt weld the bonnet piece on, I would use some sort of double sided sticky tape or even some sort of strong glue. You dont want to get it welded on then 4/5 weeks down the line you hate it! Best of luck. :D

tricky, i'd say go for secret option C and find one that both fits the gap and has slats or mesh in it. The JE one would look good in silver, but that gaping hole just makes the car look too much like a vacuum cleaner...... and having a badge gap is worse, everyone would ask who nicked the vw logo.. ;)

That would be the JE one then, it's got mesh in it.
