Throttle sticking?
First post guys,so please be kind
i have a TSI 95 se. which I took possession of in June. My problem is this, the car drives fine in almost every respect except that sometimes(mainly at low speed) when I take my foot off the throttle pedal the car actually accelerates slightly instead of slowing down. Can you tell me if this is a known problem or whether i am at fault in any way?

Re: Throttle sticking?
Depends on RPM, the car will always try to be at or just above idle. So if your at 1000rpm in 2nd it won't slow down any more.bogdac wrote:First post guys,so please be kindi have a TSI 95 se. which I took possession of in June. Otherwise I'd say there is a fault

Re: Throttle sticking?
Agree with Adam.
Assuming you're not expecting the car to go lower than 1000rpm in a gear, it's a problem.
A Mazda 2 diesel I owned had a similar problem, in that when you lifted your foot of the throttle it 'ran on' at the same speed for a second or two.
Didn't accelerate, just didn't slow down either.
Very disconcerting and annoying, the garage acknowledged it wasn't right but, as there wasn't a fault code logging in the computer, they couldn't/wouldn't fix it.

Re: Throttle sticking?
Many thanks for confirming my fears. I'll give the dealer a call in the morning.

Re: Throttle sticking?
Have you given any thought that it could be the throttle sensor??

Re: Throttle sticking?
You can't, you'll need the dealer to check for a fault code.

Re: Throttle sticking?
If no fault code, ask for a test drive with a mechanic.
Hopefully he can replicate the issue and it's not your driving (no offence).

Re: Throttle sticking?
Mine will actually speed up to a constant cruising speed in fourth or fifth, on a flat, I’ve assumed the ECU likes to prevent stalling or labouring the engine. S’not a problem IMO.

If the ECU is taking over, you evidently are in too high a gear.....Leif wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 11:31 pm Mine will actually speed up to a constant cruising speed in fourth or fifth, on a flat, I’ve assumed the ECU likes to prevent stalling or labouring the engine. S’not a problem IMO.

It'll so 30 in 5th... Just, I do just because it saves having to press the accelerator. The 'drive blue' guide says to as well[emoji106]Andy Beats wrote:If the ECU is taking over, you evidently are in too high a gear.....Leif wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 11:31 pm Mine will actually speed up to a constant cruising speed in fourth or fifth, on a flat, I’ve assumed the ECU likes to prevent stalling or labouring the engine. I see you're in East Anglia, which I think is very flat?Adam_013 wrote: Thu Feb 07, 2019 9:14 am

I wouldn't get away with leaving my car in 5th at 30mph for very long here, even a gentle gradient would have the engine bouncing off its mountings.

Re: Throttle sticking?
A fair enough, in all honesty it doesn't exactly like it, but will do it. The smallest incline will soon unsettle it mind.Andy Beats wrote:I see you're in East Anglia, which I think is very flat?Adam_013 wrote: Thu Feb 07, 2019 9:14 am
