Head Unit Version and CarPlay

Post by TimSlater »

I'm looking at a July 15 registered 1.4 TSI tomorrow, hoping to buy it. I'd like to be sure that it can have Apple CarPlay enabled so that it will connect to my iPhone.

I spoke to a VW dealer (not the garage selling the car), and they looked it up using its registration. They won't promise, but they think it should be OK.

How can I be certain when I look at the car? I've seen a list of compatible head unit model numbers on here, but I don't know how to get the model number, and I don't know how authoritative that list is.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience, I'm new!

it seems that most of the 2015 models have issues with car play. vw states that it should be compatible as long as you have the hardware but many people have struggled to get it working

Thanks. I'm also thinking about a Seat, which uses the same hardware but seems to be clearer cut on whether CarPlay works or not.
