When unlocking in the dark no exterior light come on?

Post by Wiii7 »

Hi,
I have just got a second hand polo 64 plate.

When you unlock the car with they key I was exspecting the headlights to light up like my old car but they don’t? Is this right for a polo of this age? (My interior light comes on but no exterior lights turn on.)

Thanks

Will

The coming home/ leaving home feature was an optional extra.

It might be something that can be enabled with vcds.

64 plate means it's a 2014 (I think, I'm not from the UK) so it's a 6R. If I'm not completely mistaken, automatic dipped beam (requirement for Coming/Leaving home) was not factory fitted in any 6R, not even as an option.

It is possible to install it however, if you have the light sensor in the rear view mirror base. Several users on this forum have done it, including me. To do it you need an "Auto" light switch and a wiring harness, plus you need to do some coding with VCDS to make it work. I got my wiring harness from ciclo on this forum who was selling them back in the day.

the 6c started to appear in a 64 plate (that's post sept 2014) so it could be either. it was only the gti that was held until 2015.
