Hi is it possible to fit Brescia alloys to a 2019 R Line thanks.

Yes they will fit.

All current Polo models have a PCD (bolt pattern) of 5x100 and a centre bore of 57.1, so they’ll bolt straight on the car’s hubs without any issues.

Comparing the R-Line’s standard alloys to the GTI’s optional Brescia alloys; the R-Line’s standard 16” Sebring alloys are 6.5j x 16 with an offset of ET47. The GTI optional 18” Brescia alloys are 7.5j x 18 with an offset of ET51. In terms of clearance differences, the inner face of the Brescia alloys will be 16.7mm closer to the suspension strut and the outer face will protrude an extra 8.7mm than the standard Sebring alloys.

You’ll need to inform your insurer if you fit different wheels as it’s classed as a modification for insurance purposes.

Thanks for your informed reply think I might just go for the bonneville alloys if I can get them from the vw garage I buy my polo r line from

Don’t be surprised to find they are significantly more expensive from the dealer than they would have been if you’d specified them as an option as part of the car’s factory build. Brescia alloys are £350 when specc’d as part of a new GTI / GTI+ build. To buy them from the dealer, they’re around £240 per wheel;

So with the optional 17” Bonneville alloys for the R-Line costing £450 when specc’d as part of the original factory build, I’d expect these to be around £250+ each / £1,000+ for a set from the dealer. Factor in a set of decent tyres at, say, around £100 per wheel and you’re looking at an upgrade cost of £1,400 - £1,500.

You might be able to sell your original wheels to help offset some of the cost, but I’d be inclined to keep the original 16” Sebring alloys. The big advantages of the Sebring alloys over either the Brescia or Bonneville alloys are;
  • they’re painted / powder coated whereas the Brecias and Bonnevilles are diamond cut.
  • Diamond cut alloys aren’t that durable - especially for winter use, and many owners on various VW forums with diamond cut alloys have experienced white worm corrosion when the wheels are around 2.5 - 3 years old.
  • Diamond cut alloys are easily damaged by careless or inexperienced tyre fitters or poorly maintained tyre changing equipment.
  • Diamond cut alloys are more expensive to refurbish than painted / powder coated wheels.
Tyres for the standard fit Sebring Alloys will also be cheaper than for the larger 17” Bonnevilles or 18” Brescias. Also, your insurer may charge you an increased premium if you upgrade your wheels (admittedly, it’s likely to only be a small increase).

It states at the link for Brescia alloys posted above that they’re available on back order - no doubt the factory in South Africa takes priority on parts such as optional factory fit wheels, so the many long o/s customer orders for their cars can be fulfilled. I wouldn’t be surprised if dealer-supplied Bonneville alloys would also be on back order, and back order items can take some time to come through.

Your choice at the end of the day, but I’d stick with the standard alloys, which IMO are a nice design of wheel.

Hi.

Yes it is quite easy.

I fitted my 18" Brescias from my Polo GTi onto my R-LIne with 12mm spacers at the front 15mm at the rear.
My vehicle is also lowered, no problems with rubbing on the fenders.

I'll post some pics later.
