Updating Sat Nav SEL

Post by Surface36 »

I picked my SEL up this week. I was given the box for the sat nav SD card which is Europa 1 (V9). I read somewhere that they are on V10. When coming over the SEvern Bridge towards S Wales it told me to beware of approaching toll booths. These have been removed since the end of last year.
Would this have been updated in V10?

As an aside, has anyone updated their maps. Read the VW site and it seems a bit complicated and can take 4 hrs?

thanks in advance
Steve

If updates are chargeable, just use Waze or google maps instead.
Far better than the satnav anyway.

updates are free for life of the car. I have a Windows phone so that's no option

Updating the logos for the DAB radio is enough of a nightmare, I don't envy you map updates!
Can't the dealer do it for you out of courtesy, seeing as you've only had the car a week?

I did mine the other day and it was relatively pain free. Funnily enough I got the link from the Seat Arona forum who are using it to bypass having to pay for the update, Seat UK makes you buy a new SD card to update at £60 but I believe it’s free to the rest of Europe.

Here’s the link

thank you very much, that is excellent. Easy to understand and covers everything.
Lucky I'm on a fibre connection. It says 1 hr to download
much appreciated

It's always free to download, but if you can't be bothered, they sell you a new SD card, so you pay for the inconvenience, but it is totally avoidable.

I need to update mine, went to the dealership for warranty work and Nav asked me to come off at the second exit of a roundabout that is no longer there. Was hoping they would update as part of the normal "update" service when they check your other software. They didn't.
