Parking sensors
Has anyone noticed that Vw has changed the amount of parking sensors on the bumpers? As I picked my car up Friday and noticed that it’s got 4 on each bumper but watch all reviews on gti and it had 6 so looks like they change something or cost saving again

The cars VW supplied for reviews probably have blind spot monitoring or parking assist which would require extra sensors?

Hi,
Park Assist has the extra sensors, so four is correct without this option.

Yes, it’ll be the park assist sensors. They’re located on the sides of the bumpers, rather than the forward or rearward facing sections of the bumpers, so they can ‘see’ any hazards along the sides of the car when park assist is being used to parallel park or park between two objects.Griff74 wrote: Mon May 06, 2019 7:41 am The cars VW supplied for reviews probably have blind spot monitoring or parking assist which would require extra sensors?
When VW supply cars to motoring journalists for reviews, they’re usually heavily loaded models with most - if not all - the available options. VW probably do this in the hope of the reviewer giving a more positive review than they would if they supplied the reviewer with a bog standard ‘vanilla’ model with no options. How many Polo GTi / GTI+ video reviews have you seen where the car has the standard 17” Parker alloys or standard (non-plus) GTI’s with halogen headlamps? Very few I suspect.

Also well known for press cars to be fitted with non-standard suspension, so the testers rave about the ride/handling.
Naughty, but you can see VW doing it given their past record for 'pushing envelopes of truth'.
