So true, I think I must have pressed, pushed or thumped everywhere except the handbrake button before I read about it on here!!peeceeuk wrote: Tue May 14, 2019 10:15 pm I heard something that sounded as though it was creaking from the dash but having followed this forum I remembered reading about the handbrake button.
I reached down and put my thumb on the button and the noise stopped.
I would never have guessed that or tracked it down had it not been for this forum.
The way sound reverberates indie the cabin would convince you that the sound is coming from in front of you.

Re: New Polo SE 95 - problems
Knocking from rear driver's side 'cured' by insertion of microfibre cloth between tailgate and body.
I'll get it booked in sometime, I'm rarely in the boot and happy to leave the cloth there to save me a dealer trip,

Have you checked for paint chips/scuffs from the contact between bumper bottom edge and tailgate?Andy Beats wrote: Wed May 15, 2019 8:49 am Knocking from rear driver's side 'cured' by insertion of microfibre cloth between tailgate and body.

Just put the red GTI+ in this afternoon for appraisal tomorrow. Showed a technician the issue.
The new white GTI+ tailgate closes much easier - it almost closes under it's own weight when you pull it halfway down. The top of the tailgate seems to sit a smidge lower than the roofline on the red one but not the white one.

Re: New Polo SE 95 - problems
It's the handbrake button. I had mine replaced, but it didn't fix the problem. It's less annoying now though. Previously it would rattle even on a perfect surface, just because of low RPM! It's such a common problem, VW really must have recognized it already. It's not safety related though, so I don't expect any recalls.
The dash isn't perfect either, but it's not half as annoying as handbrake and at least it's OK when it's warm.

Yeah, there's nothing I can see.monkeyhanger wrote: Wed May 15, 2019 5:23 pm Have you checked for paint chips/scuffs from the contact between bumper bottom edge and tailgate?
Microfibre cloth is doing a sterling job for now.
I'll have to get it booked in, of course, but I really cannot be bothered with the hassle.

Over the last 3 days or so I've also noticed a rattle/vibration in the handbrake area but found it to be the passenger seat belt receptacle (RHD vehicle.) I might just try that micro-fibre cloth trick I read here earlier to see if that resolve the noise.

I have the exact issue. i have resorted to driving around with the passenger seat belt plugged in. It's shocked a few passengers hoping in on occasion
