Cold start noise

1998 1.4CL FVWSH 40k

When starting from cold there is a noise which sounds like a slipping fanbelt (belt is fine). It appears to be coming from the bottom right handside engine/gearbox as you look at it. I initially thought it might be the thrust bearing but the noise remains when the clutch is pressed.

After a couple of mins (once warm) the noise stops, I have no problem selecting gears and the car runs fine with or without the noise.

Any info greatly appreciated!

Alternator belt? Mine does that from time to time, only when it's just been started though. Just a thought...
