6C GTI Emissions Light and Limp Mode

Post by Benji6c »

Hey guys,

Ive got a 2017 Polo 6c GTI

Ive been having a problem with my car putting its self in to limp mode or EPC light coming on. Was an easy fox to just turn the car off and back on again, but I'm now getting the same lights but with the emissions light as well and the turn it off and back on again trick doesn't work. Has anybody else had this problem or have any idea about what it could be. It seems to be only after i've given it a hard time... maybe i'm pushing it too hard XD

I will be taking it back to the dealer but before I do that I want to make sure theres nothing I can do myself.

Possible Lambda sensor fault.

The emissions light won't cause the car to go into limp mode.

So i suspect it's the map causing the gearbox to tell the engine to go into limp mode to protect itself.

I'd say find a local garage or someone with vcds and read the codes before you go to vw.

I had someone scan it outside of VW. It comes up with cylinders 1,2&4 and camshaft or something shaft sensor, I now also have a grinding noise changing from 4th to 3rd at high revs 👍🏻 And constant emissions light on. It is booked in with be now for the 11th June. Does anyone know If vw have them scanners which send the results straight to head office and can tell if they’ve been mapped as warranty would be nice but if I have to pay then I have to pay

i don't think i would not be quite so flippant to have to pay for it lol

anything related to dsg boxes are not cheap. as soon as it is flagged as modified you will lose all warranty related to the drive train.

i would be speaking to who mapped it and asking them to check 100% that the map was for the dsg and not the manual.

Vw dealers do indeed ‘ have them scanners ‘ that link with the mother land in Germany.
It really depends what’s at fault as to any warranty claim re having a remap.
