Parking sensors and front bumper removal

Post by foz_alad »

Having watched a few videos of how to replace a Polos front bumper I feel confident that I will be able to remove and attach a new one. My only concern are my parking sensors. Do I need to make any special consideration for them? Is the sensor system attached to my bumper or more a part of the cars frame? None of the videos I’ve seen has mentioned the sensors at all.

Thank you

Typically, the parking distance sensors are clipped into brackets welded to the inner face of the bumper cover, there will also be a cable form connecting all of them together and that cable form should have a connector so that the bumper cover can be removed complete all the parking distance sensor kit still in place.

I retro fitted front PDS to my Audi S4, so I knew what to expect and what was needed to be fitted to that car.

Are you fitting a new bumper cover that has been prepared for PDS, are just adapting a suitable bumper for PDS?

The actual location of the plug/socket for the bumper cover PDS cable form will vary from model to model, I engineered mine in to being accessible by removing the top cover of the lock carrier, so don't be too surprised if you find your one in that area as it needs to be accessible before you actually move the bumper cover off/out/away from the car.
