Replacement Driver's Seatbelt

Hi

The seatbelt on my VW Polo 2011 6R 1.4 is really playing up, it is constantly sticking as I pull the seatbelt out and gets really frustrating when I'm in a rush. Been looking around for replacement seatbelts but I really can't afford the prices for the original seatbelts for example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-P ... SwGGBc76m4

I was wondering whether anyone knew of any alternatives than a like for like replacement?
Will a seatbelt from another vehicle fit?

I don’t know if a seat belt from another vehicle could be used. I personally wouldn’t fit one from another vehicle.

I know you’ve posted the eBay link of an example of the cost of a used seat belt (it’s a front passenger seat belt and I assume you’re looking for one for the drivers seat). However, if you click one of the other links further down the eBay ad, there are other items for sale from the same (salvaged) vehicle - presumably written off in an accident. I’d always be wary of buying a used seatbelt from an accident damaged salvage vehicle, especially if it’s a seat belt for the driver’s seat. The driver’s seat belt will almost certainly have been is use by the driver when the donor car was involved in the accident that resulted in it being written off. The seat belt may have suffered damage that isn’t apparent from a visual inspection, so there’s a risk it might fail to restrain the seat occupant if it was subsequently fitted in another vehicle, and that vehicle unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident.

IMO it’s better to be safe than sorry, and invest in a new seat belt rather than compromise on safety, even if it does cost more than you’d ideally want to pay.

I completely agree with SRGTD, but, are you trying to get that belt pulled out while the car is parked on a steep slope, if not it is time to buy a new and very expensive belt.
