What do you do with the seats?

Hi.

We took delivery of a new Polo saturday after falling in love with the DSG gearbox and ACC.
After taking delivery we have done some 1-2 hour trips and we both noticed the very bad and hard seats. We didn't notice anything after the testdrive.
My partner is the primary user of the car, and he has a 30 commute to and from work, and he had complained about back pain since, we got the car.

I have only done few trips, and my back is also hurt a little bit.

Have anyone else noticed the bad seats, and done something about it? Did you get used to it after a while?

We came from a DS3.

GTI and GTI+ have lumbar support, there's no mention of it for any other trim level in the price list or brochure.

I've never felt the need to adjust it. If you gave a GTI, I'd suggest you make adjustments to the lumbar support.

If you haven't, perhaps you need to experiment with different searing adjustments - height or maybe sit more upright?

Is the other half susceptible to back pain when not driving?

We don't have the GTI model, so just standard seats.

None of us had back pain before. Maybe it just take some time to get use to?

May I ask what spec you have.

I personally find the seats in my beats far comfier than the SE courtesy car I had. I'm assuming they are different seats or maybe just set up differently.

It did take me a while to adjust my seat to my liking.

We don't have the same versions here in Denmark like in UK.
My model is called a Polo Comfortline, which is the middle level.

I believe the seats are cheapest versions.

Does anyone know if it's possible to swap to Golf seats? Took a 2 x 45 min drive tonight and my back hurt so much, and i love every thing about this car beside of the seats.

I have the SE with standard seats and they are fine. I have a dodgy back but no issues at all driving nearly 3 hours to the Lake District. Strange that you are having these issues.

I Can see it's the same seat as the UK POLO SE version.

I can't believe that we are the only on struggling with these seats? Maybe because we had french cars before, they are well known for their good comfort.

That explains it. You propably had a testdrive in a highline version, which has better, more comfy seats. This was one of the main reasons why I ordered highline. I had a testdrive in a highline and afterwards I wanted to check out infotainment. They had comfortline on show at the dealership and when I entered it I immedietaly noticed difference in seats. I don't have lumbar support but the seats are very comfortable anyway.

No it was another Comfortline as well, I have never tried to sit in a Highline, unfortunately. If i had known this would be an issue i have just bought a Highline model, but i was not interested in it because of the decor on the seats in the highline.

I have now ordered some lumbar support pillows on Amazon, and hopefully that will fix this issue. Otherwise we have to sell it and buy another one.

Small adjustments to the seating / steering wheel position can make a big difference to searing comfort.

Whenever I replace my car for a new (or newer) one, I always find it takes a few days of fine tuning of the seat backrest and seat height, distance from the foot pedals and the reach and rake of the steering wheel before I feel comfortable. Once I’ve found that optimum position for me, I don’t have any back pain issues while driving - fortunately, I’m the only driver of my car, so the seating position doesn’t need to be adjusted to suit other drivers.

The only problem is when my car goes back to the dealer for servicing, warranty or repair work if they move my seat / steering wheel position and I then have to find that optimum position again.
